About
Pacheco Performance Horses (previously known as Heart 2 Horse - Equine Services) is situated in the Black Forest area of Colorado Springs, CO and owned and operated by JJ and Abby Pacheco. We focus on western performance horses and family/trail horses.
We offer a variety of training services, lessons and coaching, consignment and horse sales, and more. Focusing specifically on horsemanship and equine care with a special attention to equine biomechanics, nutrition, and fitness. Under saddle and on the ground we focus on developing the education and foundation of the horse. We want to create horses that are soft, relaxed, balanced, collected, and correct that make excellent riding partners for years to come. Making it a priority to ensuring that our horses are capable of performing their duties in the arena, on the trail, and around the barn physically, mentally, and emotionally.
JJ handles much of the day-to-day maintenance that comes along with owning a horse operation. He is the “jack-of-all-trades” guy that acts as mechanic, engineer, electrician, grounds keeper, and day worker, yet can still swing a leg up over a horse at the end of the day. JJ grew up in the mountains of Eagle, CO where he spent his days exploring the outdoors. He comes from a background of hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain horseback riding, and working on a cattle ranch operation off of the Colorado River.
Abby is the horse trainer, coach, competitor, equine bodyworker, and handles all things “horse”. Abby has been a “horse girl” her whole life. From riding with a drill team in her younger years to competing at a high level today, she has an extensive equine background which has molded the horsewoman she is today. She holds an education in equine training and management from Arapahoe Community College and remains an active board member of this equine program. Abby has been blessed with opportunities to train under some excellent horse men and women who have helped her develop her skillset. Education is very important Abby and she continues to develop and learn from other equine professionals. In addition to her training background, Abby is also educated in and practices Equine bodywork. She uses massage and kinesthetic taping to assist her in the training and overall health of the horse.
